Information on Tourist Places in Wayanad District

Thamarassery Pass is a mountain pass that connects Kozhikode to Wayanad. This is part of NH 212. It has a 12km long and 9 hear pin bends. This highway passes through Lakkadi in Wayanad district. The British rulers had to find a way to see Wayanad. It was not possible through the rugged mountains. A British engineer, with the help of a tribe named "Karinthantan", who had a good knowledge of the places in Wayanad was able to achieve that goal.
It is the largest dam in India. The second in Asia. Built in 1979 across the tributary river Karamanathodu of the Kabani River, KSEB's solar power plant is another specialty. The Edakkal Cave, located at an elevation of 4000 feet above sea level in Ambukutty Hill, is 96 feet long and 22 feet wide. Edakkal Cahyas are in the innermost Stone Age, which existed in South India for BCE 4000 years and 1000 years. Cave paintings are not done at the same time. There are also inscriptions dating from 5th century BCE. Knowledge of cave paintings received from the guards was a knowledge.
